A paediatrician dedicated to exceptional healthcare for children

Dr Vinola Naidoo
(MBChB, FCPaeds)

Dr Naidoo has been practicing medicine for over 25 years and has dedicated her career to the care and well-being of children. She is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of paediatric conditions, from minor illnesses to complex medical conditions. Dr Naidoo is well known for her compassionate style to patient care. Of particular importance in her approach to practicing Paediatrics is taking the necessary time to listen to her patients and their families, ensuring that they fully understand all information available during the consultation, and feel comfortable and supported throughout their medical journey. Her expertise in Paediatrics and wide-ranging experience gained over many years, as well as her caring nature, make Dr Naidoo the ideal Paediatrician for families seeking a trusted healthcare provider.

Dr Naidoo is a graduate of the University of Natal Medical School in Durban. She completed her internship at Greys / Northdale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg and her Community Service at St Andrew’s Hospital in the rural community of Harding in KwaZulu Natal. This was followed by a stint at a private hospital in the United Kingdom. Returning to South Africa, she began her specialization in Paediatrics through the University of Limpopo at the George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa, successfully completing as a Fellow of the College of Paediatricians of South Africa in 2005.

Our milestones:
A journey through time

Where it started

In 2005, I qualified as a paediatrician and remained in government practice until the conclusion of 2009.

Early days

Established in 2010, my practice was created with the aim of delivering outstanding paediatric care at Netcare Femina Hospital in Pretoria.

Growing strong

In July 2022, we relocated our practice to the Netcare Sunninghill hospital.

Future vision

Our commitment continues as we strive to innovate and enhance paediatric healthcare.

A newborn baby

Newborn care

Attending a baby at delivery, or shortly thereafter, is one of the greatest joys of being a paediatrician. I will fully examine your baby, manage any complications that may arise, and provide the support and care you need at this special time.

Thereafter I will see your baby daily during his/her stay in hospital, providing you with helpful advice and tips on how to manage your baby. I am especially passionate about helping mums to breastfeed.

Well child visits

Starting at the 1-2 week post-delivery visit up to the late teenage years, well child visits are aimed at monitoring your child’s growth and development, building a relationship with your child and with you, and creating a space for the child to engage me in matters that concern them.

These primarily preventative care visits allow for early detection of health or developmental issues, and provides an opportunity for us to discuss matters such as nutrition, milestones, immunisations, etc.

Sick child visits

With the understanding that children get sick often, and that this is a stressful situation for parents to deal with, we always have some space in the day to fit in sick kids. Whether it is a child with fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, painful tummy, cough, difficulty breathing, a cold, or anything about your child’s heath that you’re worried about, please contact us for a visit.

If you have an emergency after hours, please go to the ER at Netcare Sunninghill hospital, and one of the team of Paediatric doctors here will be contacted if your child needs to be admitted.

Neonatal and Paediatric in-hospital care

Newborn care in the Neonatal ICU is sometimes needed for sick and for premature babies. The NICU
stay is trying and I aim to provide excellent care for your baby, while providing you with the support and information you need to keep you as calm as possible.
When children are a little older and need hospitalisation, admission to the paediatric ward holds its own challenges.

The aim during this period is to get you through this stay as quickly as possible, with judicious use of medication, and with as little invasive treatment
as possible.

Adolescent medicine

Most parents do not think of paediatricians when dealing with preteens and teenagers. However,
paediatricians are trained to provide health care and management of children up to 17 years. I love engaging with this age group, providing information to them and connecting with them in a way that’s
non-threatening.

This enables them to open up and discuss their concerns: physical issues such as weight and skin issues; puberty and body changes; emotional aspects such as peer pressure, mental health issues; or anything they may need advice on.

Chronic illness

I am able to do the initial assessment and diagnosis of a chronic illness, as well as follow up of children with chronic illnesses diagnosed previously. Some of the illnesses are asthma, allergies, epilepsy, HIV, epilepsy, chronic constipation. Generally, these chronic illnesses need 4-6 monthly follow up visits, with additional consultations if new symptoms or
problems arise.

I am supported by a wide network of subspecialists should more intensive care be needed.
